Terms of Use for Off Hours

Last updated: 8 October 2026

1. Who we are

Off Hours (German: “Auszeit”) is an iPhone app by

nxtChange Consulting FlexCo Neugasse 9/1 8045 Graz, Austria Company register: FN 648962g, Regional Court for Civil Matters Graz VAT ID: ATU81922038 Contact: Karl Maier apps@nxtchange-consulting.com

(“we”). Questions about the app go to the e-mail address above.

2. What the app does

Off Hours keeps the apps you choose from opening right away during the times you set. When you open such an app inside that window, your iPhone first shows a 15-second cooling-off. Then you decide: “Take a break” and leave the app, or “Make an exception” and open it for a while. With Off Hours Plus you can choose a 30- or 90-second cooling-off per schedule, or lock the apps entirely until the schedule ends. Off Hours pauses apps only, not websites. Every other app stays untouched.

The app uses the Screen Time features of iOS (“Family Controls”). It can only work if you allow it access to Screen Time.

3. What the app does not promise

Off Hours is an aid, not a safeguard against yourself. You can skip any cooling-off (a lock ends when you switch the schedule off), revoke Screen Time access in the iOS Settings, or delete the app. Each of these ends every Off Hours schedule. We do not promise any particular result, such as a particular amount of screen time.

iOS sets technical limits we cannot change. For example, after “Make an exception” an app stays usable without a cooling-off for a fixed time, because iOS does not report when you close it. iOS can pause only a limited number of apps at once. Whether notifications from a paused app appear is up to iOS; Off Hours can neither silence nor allow them.

4. Free and Plus

Free of charge, Off Hours includes one Off Hours schedule with up to two apps, a 15-second cooling-off and 5 minutes after “Make an exception”.

“Off Hours Plus” is a subscription. It allows more Off Hours schedules, more than two apps per schedule, the choice of cooling-off (15, 30 or 90 seconds, or a lock), the choice of exception (1, 5 or 15 minutes) and “Start now” (a schedule takes effect immediately until its next end). Plus is available as a yearly and as a monthly subscription. Prices are shown in the app and in the App Store.

For the purchase:

In addition, Apple’s standard end user license agreement for App Store apps (“Licensed Application End User License Agreement”) applies where these terms do not say otherwise: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

5. License

You receive a simple, non-transferable right to use the app on Apple devices linked to your Apple Account. You may not modify, reverse engineer or resell the app.

6. Liability

We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence and for damage to life, body and health. For slight negligence we are liable only for the breach of essential contractual duties, limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

7. Changes

We may change these terms, for example when the app or the law changes. The current version is always available at this address. We announce material changes in the app or in the App Store.

8. Law and jurisdiction

Austrian law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. For consumers in other countries, the mandatory consumer protection rules of their country of residence apply in addition.

We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
